The fairy tale in verse describes the island of Marzipan, which is ruled by children. One day, mean and cruel soldiers attack the island and subjugate the children. After some time, with the advice of the heavens and the cunning of the children, the soldier king's reign of terror is brought to an end. The first edition of the fairy tale was published in 1851.
