Patinated bronze, marble base. inscribed "Carpeaux". H 29.5 cm / 22.5 cm. 3.3 kg.
Bust of a boy with curly hair. Patina slightly rubbed, minor holes and damage, base chipped, mounting on base somewhat loose.
If this is Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, then: French sculptor, painter and etcher (1827 Valenciennes - 1875 Courbevoie near Paris), in 1846 he entered the Academie des Beaux-arts and became a pupil of Francisque Joseph Duret, in 1854 he was awarded the Rome Prize at an exhibition of the Académie Française.
