Patinated bronze, green marble. "Alf. Thiele MCMXVII" inscribed, foundry mark "C. Poellath Schrobenhausen". 28 x 45 x 15 cm. 15.85 kg.
Elegantly striding lioness with raised head, on a rectangular base. Patina partly rubbed, base chipped.
Alfred Thiele was a German sculptor and medalist, from 1903 to 1908 he trained as an academic sculptor at the Leipzig Academy of Art and was a student of Adolf Lehnert and Bruno Héroux.
