Pompous, French mantel clock set.
France. Circa 1870/80.
"G.F." marked movement with half-hour strike on bell. Functional in short time test. Faceted glazed, black dial with Roman numerals and Romaines hands, indistinctly marked "[...] B[oulev]ard St Martin 13 Paris".
Red and black marble, fire-gilt bronze and dark patina. Clock 45 x 32 x 16 cm, clock plate each H 45 cm. Clock 14.4 kg, side plates 2.9 kg each.
Elaborately crafted late-tempire architectural case with vase finial, female herms and handles screwed onto the sides. With two matching four-flame candlesticks with floral spouts as side plates. Partially repaired, probably cleaned and partly repainted, fabric covering on the reverse defective.
With pendulum and key.
