Möbel Mann is a formerly independent furniture company known as Mann Mobilia. The company was founded by Hugo Mann (1913-2008), a trained carpenter from Laupheim, who opened a furniture store in the Kaiserpassage in 1938 and was already the largest furniture retailer in the city in 1939. in 1950, Mann opened the first furniture department store at Kaiserstrasse 229. One of the reasons for the company's success was that Mann largely avoided price competition in the furniture industry by pushing through exclusive sales models with his manufacturers and advertising them as his own products, even though they only had minor changes to the moldings or ornamentation. Mann also introduced a commission system in which his salespeople received a higher commission if they sold not only the basic models, but also increasingly the more expensive and better quality models.
