Cuffed mother with child
Bronze, black patina, green stone base. "Stephan Sinding sc.", foundry mark "Aktien-Gesellschaft Gladenbeck Berlin". 22 x 36 x 21.5 cm. 12.97 kg.
Kneeling mother with her arms bound behind her back and leaning forward to hold the child lying on the ground. Patina rubbed, possibly residue from the unchased mold on the basin and arms, slight patina (verdigris), base chipped.
Stephan Abel Sinding was a Danish-Norwegian sculptor, studied at the University of Kristiania, worked with Albert Wolff in Berlin, active in Paris from 1887, also active in Rome and Copenhagen.
