Greek woman standing
Patinated bronze. inscribed "J. Clesinger Rome 1857", foundry mark "F. Barbedienne Fondeur" and "Réduction Mécanique A. Collas Brevete". H 69.5 cm. 16 kg.
The figure of a young woman in Greek dress with tiara stands on a round base, probably a depiction of Helen of Troy. Signs of age and wear, patina slightly rubbed.
If it should be Jean-Baptiste Auguste Clésinger, then: French sculptor and painter (1814 Besancon - 1883 Paris), was a pupil of Bertel Thorvaldsen.
