Large Art Nouveau terracotta bust "Japanese woman with fan". König & Lengsfeld, Cologne-Lindenthal
Circa 1900/05. Incised mark "K & L" with the addition "deponirt". Verso incised "Koenig". Light body, matt glazed in dark bronze, decorated in color and gold. H approx. 65 cm.
Asian woman facing right in a white kimono with a wide belt, holding a large fan with lavishly painted flowers behind her head, on a concave relief base. Actually part of a pair of Asian busts, here as a single piece. Restored, including to the hands, chin and nose, glaze chips and color rubbing, small chipped areas.
