White marble. inscribed "F. Charpentier". H 69 cm. 43.30 kg.
Seated nude of a young lady, awakening from sleep, elegantly posing with both arms and gathering her long, wavy hair behind her back. Hardly any signs of age or use.
Félix Charpentier: French sculptor, studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Avignon under Armand, in 1877 he entered the École nationale des beaux-arts de Paris and worked in the studio of Pierre-Jules Cavelier and Amédée Doublemard.
