Alabaster, on a yellow stone base. inscribed "Lewin Funke", below intertwined monogram "HK". H 49 cm / 46 cm. 10 kg.
A young woman dancing in an elegant pose with measured steps, her hands lifting her long dress from the front and back, looking devotedly over her shoulder. Signs of age and wear, head broken and glued, small finger of the right hand defective, chipped and scratched.
If this is Arthur Lewin-Funcke, then: German sculptor and medalist (1866 Niedersedlitz near Dresden - 1937 Berlin), studied at the Kunsthochschule Berlin, in Bonn and at the Akademie Julian Paris.
