Art Nouveau terracotta bust "Lorel[e]y". Viennese manufactory Friedrich Goldscheider.
Relief mark GS 13 Sculpture, 1900-1920. circa 1899/1900. Signed "Chavane" on the base. Model no. 2032 78 21.
Light body, matt glazed in shades of brown and decorated in gold. H approx. 43 cm.
Beauty looking to the right with musical symbols such as staves, musical notes and the head of a five-stringed instrument as a base decoration. Titled "Lorely" on the cloth. Possibly alluding to the Austrian opera singer Irene von Chavanne (1863-1938).
