Hebe
Marble. Without signature. H 63 cm. 20,25 kg.
The figure of a striding woman on a terrain plinth, raising her right arm above her head as if holding something. It is probably a depiction of the goddess Hebe after a work by Antonio Canova (1757 Possagno - 1822 Venice), as it is in a version in the Alte Nationalgalerie Berlin. In the present version, however, the jug and chalice that Hebe usually holds in her hands are missing. Minimal chipping, left index finger broken and glued.
Provenance : Museum estate of Peter Kaus.
