Large terracotta sculpture - nymph between trees
Terracotta. inscribed "Madrassi". H 83 cm. 15.55 kg.
A young woman stands in a loose contrapposto with raised arms in a kind of hollowed tree trunk. Signature showing signs of age and wear, minor chipping, superficial flaking.
If it should be Luca Madrassi, then: Italian sculptor (1848 Tricesimo - 1919 Paris), began his art studies in Rome and then went to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, worked in the studio of Carrier-Belleuse and for Gustave Doré.
