CLODION, probably after
Fawn woman with two children
Terracotta, light gray-white. inscribed "Clodion". H 54 cm. 10.55 kg.
A faun woman sitting on a rock on a round base. A small faun boy with a drinking vessel in his right hand sits on her leg and looks down to the ground, where a putto with grapes in his hand sits. Signs of age and wear, minor cracks, chips (drinking bowl, vine leaves, woman's hair ornament).
If it should be Clodion, then: actually Claude Michel (1738 Nancy - 1814 Paris), French sculptor, pupil of Pigalle.
