Dated Rococo chipboard box.
42.7 x 33.7 x 41.5 cm. 1.2 kg.
Dated painted chipboard box. Decorated all around with a landscape scene; on the lid, a love scene featuring a gentleman in a blue Werther coat playing the flute for a lady in traditional rural dress standing opposite him. The couple is surrounded by rose petals and buds—interpreted metaphorically—as well as a background of hills and, on either side, a suggested cityscape with towers. The inscription reads: My heart within me / I share with you. Anno 1777. Inactive bookworm damage; the lid’s edge shows some damage (minor losses or cracks); the lid is currently secure and can be removed.
