"A. Hanne" (Louis Alphonse Hanne 1856-1908) carved on the base. Around 1900, France. Model no. 341. design: Joseph LE GULUCHE (1849-1915), around 1895/1900.

Red body, dark bronze matt glaze, subtly colored. H 44 cm.

Made in the style of the Goldscheider figures, standing oriental with 2 water jugs, on a naturalistic round base. Right shoulder with chipped, some small glaze rubbing and flaking.

The French manufactory Alphonse Hanne (L'Isle d'Adam) was one of Goldscheider's biggest competitors, particularly with regard to the production of orientalizing busts and figures. The manufactory won a number of prizes at exhibitions and had a branch in Paris, among other places. Busts and figures by Hanne are often confused with Goldscheider, as the models are often unmarked and very similar in theme and execution to those of Goldscheider.
