* Masereel, important Belgian artist, painter, watercolorist, draughtsman, caricaturist, graphic artist, illustrator, publisher, lecturer, studied at the Academy in Ghent, active in Paris from 1910. 1915-1921 in Switzerland, after 1940 active in Avignon and Nice. 1947-1951 Professor at the Academy in Saarbrücken. 1953 President of the Société Internationale des Graveurs sur Bois XYLON in Zurich, regularly represented at numerous international exhibitions, works in international museums. * The Kunstgalerij was founded by Gaston De Vuyst (1910-1992) in 1962, it organized various solo exhibitions, including those of Frans Masereel, art auctions have been held annually since 1970, his children and grandchildren took over the family business.
