Art Nouveau terracotta large sculpture "Goliath". Vienna manufactory Friedrich Goldscheider.
Relief mark GS 8a, ca. 1895-1898. model no. 1233. design: ca. 1898/99.
Light body, colored, partly gold painted. H approx. 148 cm.
Standing male figure armed with sword and spear, his left arm raised to throw a spear, on a rock base with the incised title "Goliath". The figure depicts the giant warrior Goliath from the Old Testament. Spear made of carved and colored wood. Restored, including right arm, 2 fingers and sword glued, partly repainted in color, retouched color detachments, glaze chipping and slight chipping.
