Collection of documents from the estate of Karl Emil Klaus, a Saxon industrialist. Presentation folder containing a certificate from the Royal Saxon Military Association “Jäger und Schützen” in Crimmitschau and the surrounding area, issued on October 8, 1909, on the occasion of Emil Klaus’s appointment as honorary chairman of the association in recognition of his past services to the organization.

Certificate of Honor from the Board of Trustees of the Public Commercial School in Crimmitschau, dated Crimmitschau, March 24, 1912.
Certificate of award of the Knight’s Cross, 1st Class, of the Order of Albrecht by King Frederick Augustus III of Saxony, bearing his autograph, dated May 14, 1912.
Letter from the Royal Saxon Chamberlain regarding the granting of an audience for Emil Klaus with Frederick Augustus III on January 9, 1913, dated January 3, 1913. In the original accompanying envelope with address, postmark, and stamp Royal Business., as well as an embossed adhesive seal from the Chamberlain’s Office on the reverse side. The letter has a small tear along the center fold; the envelope is worn and partially torn, with a loss on the back; the folder and document show slight signs of wear consistent with their age.
Emil Klaus was the founder and co-partner of the firm Theilig & Sohn, registered as a general partnership in February 1869. The firm moved its headquarters to Crimmitschau in 1888; Klaus remained a partner at Theilig & Sohn until 1903. Based on the available documents, he appears to have later operated a spinning mill.
