Heinz Bormann: German fashion designer of the successful brand “Original Bormann-Kleidung” / “Original Bormann-Mode” and textile manufacturer. In 1945, he founded the “Heinz Bormann Bekleidungswerkstätten.” Initially, the company produced men’s outerwear; in 1954, production shifted to women’s outerwear. That same year, he participated in the fashion fair in Düsseldorf, where his collection—designed by Helena Zeilhofer—caused a sensation. The West German press dubbed Bormann the “Red Dior.” In 1956, a branch office was established in Magdeburg; in 1959, the company’s headquarters were relocated from Schönebeck to Magdeburg. In 1959, the company collaborated with VEB Treffmodelle. In 1969, he designed the costumes for the DEFA film “Mit mir nicht, Madam!” In 1972, the company was nationalized and reestablished under the name “VEB Magdeburger Damenmoden” (shortened to “Magda”). 1974 Bormann fell ill and withdrew from the company.
