Art Nouveau lidded pitcher in the shape of an alk. Kayserzinn.

Pewter. H 28 cm. 1.35 kg.
Jug in the shape of a fully sculpted, standing razorbill (Alca torda) with a hinged lid that opens as the upper part of the head. Slight signs of age and wear, a few scratches.
Hugo Leven: Sculptor and designer in Düsseldorf, Bremen, and Hanau; studied sculpture at the School of Applied Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf; in 1896 entered into a contractual relationship with the Kayser studio and played a key role in the development of “Kayserzinn,” and in 1907 became a member of the German Werkbund.
