Cast metal, bronze-colored patina, red wooden base. Signed “Kossowski,” titled “Naiad.” H 62 cm / 56.5 cm. 3.75 kg.
Young woman with butterfly wings holding up a reed. Signs of age and wear, cracks (especially larger cracks on the wings), scratches, patina partially worn away.
Henryk Kossowski the Younger: Polish sculptor; studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków from 1873 to 1876, first under his father Henryk Kossowski the Elder, later under Marceli Guyski; moved to Paris in 1880 and worked in the studio of Mathurin Moreau.
