Music box: Silver egg cup with rabbits.
On the egg cup featuring a striding lion (sterling silver, fineness), the year mark G for the year 1981, and the maker’s mark AGE for Anthony Gordon Elson; the eggshell also features the striding lion and a year mark that is difficult to read. Anthony Gordon Elson (* 1935)

A high-quality music box by the London silversmith, who is known for his designs featuring eggs in egg cups. The naturalistically rendered enameled top half of the egg can be removed; and beneath it, inside an eggshell with a serrated rim, are two resting rabbits that rotate when the music box is set in motion; it plays Spring from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Part of a limited edition: marked 73/200 on the underside. On the front of the egg cup is a heraldic crown with a striding lion armed with a sword. With slight signs of oxidation.
The music box mechanism is marked on the bottom with Reuge St Croix/Swiss made.
