Angelo Quaglio the Younger came from the famous Munich artist family Quaglio, whose members created theater backdrops at court for several generations or made a name for themselves as architectural and genre painters. Like many of his predecessors in Munich, Angelo Quaglio was responsible for theater sets, such as the opera sets for Richard Wagner or for private performances for Ludwig II. Later, Quaglio also provided designs for the court theaters in Dresden, Stuttgart, and St. Petersburg.
