Curved, single-edged blade with a fuller and reinforced spine, engraved with ornamentation and a crowned "L" (Ludwig II). Waffled wooden handle with a crowned monogram “M” (Maximilian II (1848–1864)) in the Bavarian colors. Handle ribbed diagonally on the back. Angled lion’s-head pommel. Metal scabbard with brass fittings (or tombac) and two movable rings, one with a painted-over solder joint. Scabbard shows significant signs of wear.
