Multicolored patinated bronze, wooden base. Marked "Loriot," numbered "306/980." 20.5 x 17 x 16 cm. 2.95 kg.
Bust of the famous little man with a bulbous nose holding a rose in his mouth. Signs of age and wear, patina rubbed off, small scratches and dents, slight patina formation (verdigris).
Loriot—whose real name was Bernhard-Viktor Christoph-Carl von Bülow, also known as Vicco von Bülow—was one of Germany’s most famous comedians, active in literature, television, theater, and film from the 1950s until his death; Loriot first established himself as a cartoonist; later, he also worked as an actor, screenwriter, animator, host, director, and set and costume designer, and created the iconic character with the bulbous nose.
