Depiction of the scene in which the rebellious weavers storm the manufacturer’s villa and ransack it. Slightly discolored.
Painter and graphic artist from Dresden, student of Emanuel Hegenbarth, master student of Otto Gussmann, co-founder of the “Dresden Secession Group 1919,” his works were defamed as “degenerate” during the Nazi era; a large portion of his body of work was lost during that time; after 1945, he was active as an artist in Dresden, particularly known for his illustrations, for example, of Goethe’s “Faust” or Gerhard Hauptmann’s “The Weavers.”
