Art Nouveau table lamp.
Probably designed by Georg Pöschmann, Dresden. Unmarked. Circa 1904. HAUSTEIN, Paul (design) (1880 Chemnitz – 1944 Stuttgart)
Brass. H 34.5 cm. 2.23 kg.
Slightly flaring, iron-weighted round base with a central, bulging shaft and three flat, curved candlestick arms with bulbous spouts and narrow drip rims. Drip cups likely not removable. Signs of age and wear; spouts glued on; one spout is dented; one drip cup is not firmly attached to the spout.
Paul Haustein: Designer, metal artist, and painter in Munich, Darmstadt, and Stuttgart; studied at the School of Applied Arts in Dresden and Munich; member of the Vereinigte Werkstätten in Munich; 1903–05 member of the Darmstadt Artists’ Colony; 1905–35 director of the metal workshop at the “Royal Teaching and Experimental Workshops” in Stuttgart.
