OTTO, Hellmeier(1908 Weilheim – 1990 Raisting (Wessobrunn))
Sunny Village Landscape
Oil on panel. Signed lower right, inscribed on the reverse.
20 x 30.5 cm. Framed : 34 x 44 cm (gilded stucco frame).
View of the pilgrimage church of St. Leonhard in Froschhausen near Murnau. The artist Otto Hellmeier is a "local original" of the Five Lakes Region in the Bavarian Pre-Alps: In his works, he superbly captures the spirit of his homeland without depicting it in a strictly naturalistic manner. The atmosphere he portrays allowed him to win over a wider audience, particularly in the postwar period.
