Postcard album containing 91 postcards related to Goethe.
774 g.
91 postcards as well as an invitation card from the Schiller Committee dating from 1955 in an older red scrapbook. The postcards are of various ages (the most recent designs were created for the 1989 Federal Horticultural Show in Goethe’s birthplace, Frankfurt am Main) and depict places and people closely associated with the poet. Some postcards are duplicates.
Special feature: a postcard with a Goethe stamp, designed by the famous graphic artist Engelbert Schoner, who designed a great many stamps between 1945 and the 1970s; this card also bears a handwritten signature. The album was originally used for other postcards or photos, so it still has some light-colored crayon or pencil notes in the margins that are partially legible.
