Art Nouveau terracotta figure "Naiad in the Reeds"
Stamped "Susse Frères Editeur Paris," relief mark. Signed "Raoul Larche." Designed by Raoul-François LARCHE (1860–1912). Light-colored shard, in bronze-colored brown tones and with a gold-colored patina. H 44 cm, L approx. 80 cm.
Reclining female nude on a natural pedestal with suggested reed leaves. See also the marble version under Cat. No. 1900. Restored, including the neck and face, as well as the legs; glaze chips and defects.
Raoul-François Larche (1860–1912): sculptor and painter. Larche studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1884–1911) and was a regular exhibitor at the Salon des Artistes Français. As a member of the jury at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, he received numerous official commissions.
