Terracotta sculpture of a Rococo lady with a fan
Terracotta. Marked "P. Duboy" on the underside, "2085." H 57 cm. 4.5 kg.
Standing young woman in a long dress with curly, updo hair, holding a fan in her right hand and a single flower in her left hand in front of her chest. Some scratches and minor chips; larger chips in the hair and hair bow as well as on the gown; a crack on the back at waist level.
If this is indeed by Paul Duboy, then: French sculptor (1830, Tours – 1886), a student of Jean François Théodore Gechter and Jean-Jacques Elshoecht, attended the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris beginning in 1849.
