Large figure of an Oriental musician
Bronze with multicolored patina. Inscribed "Fait a Tunis E. Picault." H 68 cm. 22.15 kg.
Standing musician in a knee-length robe with a gold-colored armband and fez plays a long-necked lute and carries a frame drum. Signs of age and wear; patina partially worn away; slight patina formation (verdigris); earrings and instrument strings missing.
Emile Louis Picault: French sculptor, student of the painter Henri Royer; primarily allegorical, mythological, or patriotic motifs, but also historical figures and literary characters.
