Marble. Inscribed "A. BARRE Ft. 1834," with the title "LOUIS-PHILIPPS" on the front. H 60 cm. 60 kg.
Bust of a man; based on the inscription “Louis-Philippe,” it is to be regarded as an idealized portrait of the French king. Signs of age and wear; chipped edges.
Jean-Auguste Barre: French sculptor and medalist; studied at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Jean-Pierre Cortot.
