Baroque tabernacle-style secretary desk from a noble estate.
Dated on the front: 1761. Southern Germany.
Walnut, burl veneer, with light-colored thread inlays and complementary brass hardware. 188 x 125.5 x 67 cm.
3-drawer chest base, slanted writing flap with 2 flanking drawers, recessed upper section with a central door and 8 small drawers. On the central door, a depiction of the Crucifixion of Christ in Schwarzlot painting. Presumably restored long ago with additions; shows signs of age, veneer defects, and inactive woodworm infestation. Locks have been replaced; 1 missing.
Label on the back: “Imperial and Royal Austrian State Railways from Launsdorf to Graz.” 1 key.
