Patinated bronze. Signed "A. Boucher"; foundry mark "Siot-Decauville Fondeur Paris" with the addition "8928". H 57.5 cm. 11.15 kg.
Young peasant woman wearing a headscarf, taking a short break from working in the fields and leaning on her pitchfork. Signs of age and wear, patina rubbed off, some scratches, pitchfork loose.
Alfred Boucher: French sculptor; studied at the École des beaux-arts in Paris under Paul Dubois and Augustin Dumont beginning in 1869; teacher of Camille Claudel; founded the artists’ colony La Ruche (“The Beehive”) in Montparnasse in 1902.
