Girl with Doves
Bronze with a greenish patina. Without signature, foundry mark “Graux Marly frères Paris.” H 59 cm. 19.65 kg.
Standing girl with two doves in her arms. Next to her stands a large oinochoe decorated with garlands of flowers and snakes. The snakes’ heads are missing; the patina is slightly worn, with minor scratches and dents, and minimal patina formation (verdigris).
If this is by Clodion, then: actually Claude Michel (1738, Nancy – 1814, Paris), French sculptor, student of Pigalle.
