White porcelain. Unglazed base, without mark. Shell slightly bumped.
Bourdalou, named after King Louis XIV's preacher, he preached very ramblingly. The ladies brought gravy boats to church, into which they emptied their bladders under their long skirts. The porcelain manufactories took up this custom and fashioned a vessel more suitable for the purpose * Partner Auction Miner.
