Baroque Battlement Postament. Meissen.
Around 1740.
Height: 12 cm, width: 24,5 cm.
Reliefed, gold painted. Fine coloured painting on all sides. Circumferentially in four cartouches "battle scenes". Flower bouquets and single blossoms on the top plate. Oval fitting curved body. Sword mark. Two rocailles minimal, stand bumped inside.
A jug dated 1737 is the oldest evidence of decorations with cavalry battles and soldier scenes on Meissen porcelain. Engravings after paintings by Georg Philipp Rugendas, Philips Wouwerman and others * Partner auction Bergmann served as models.
