Fine colored painting after the pastel by Jean Etienne Liotard (1702 Geneva - 1789 Geneva). The original is painted on vellum (82,5 x 52,5 cm) and hangs in the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden. Unglazed ground, press marks, painter's monogram T. S. Wide gilt stucco frame with golden meander border on black ground.
Liotard stayed in Vienna at the request of the Empress Maria Theresa, here he painted his famous pastel picture. It was purchased in 1745 by order of Frederick August II, Elector of Saxony and as August III King of Poland * Partner auction Bergmann.
