German lithographer, draughtsman and painter, he received the Grand Federal Cross of Merit in 1971. In 1993 the Deutsche Bundespost issued a 100-Pfennig special stamp with the motif "Publikum" (audience) in his honour as part of the series "Deutsche Malerei des 20.
