German sculptor, medalist and graphic artist who was the second woman after Käthe Kollwitz to be admitted to the Deutscher Künstlerbund. Under Nazi dictatorship, her works were defamed as "degenerate". She modeled the template of the Berlinale Award, the "Berlinale Bear".
