In embossed Renaissance binding with clasps. Title page with vignette, (14), 514, (29) pages. One page loose, otherwise block and binding in good condition for age.
First edition printed in Germany. First appeared in Naples in 1572. Ribadeneyra (1526 - 1611), although not himself a founding member of the Order, belonged to the closest circle of Ignatius of Loyola. On behalf of the Order, he traveled through large parts of Europe and was instrumental in establishing the Order in Belgium, Holland and England.
