Pair of square Satsuma vases.
Marketed. Probably around 1917, Meiji period. Japan.
Fine stoneware, partly flat relief and painted with enamel colors. H 15 cm.
Similar to Cong vases, but with square opening. Very fine painting with gold enhancement. Different pairs of motifs, figural and landscape, on the wall. Vases must be turned in opposite directions so that the matching pairs appear. Gold paint partly a little rubbed.
