WEBER, Andreas Paul(1893 Arnstadt - 1980 Schretstaken)
"Backbone out!"
Lithograph. Pencil signature, red stamp" Clan Press". [1951/1960].
Sheet: 51.7 x 61.7 cm.
"Backbone out!". After this sheet was a poem by Hermann Mostar, which Weber published in 1961 together with the picture in the "Critical Calendar": [...] A quick cut, your backbone is missing,/ and what you just tormented,/ Is now directly pleasurable,/ In the military service robbt's like lubricated,/ In office crawls's exquisite./ And if you want to be safe somewhere,/ You crawl in quite effortlessly,/ Hasn't the doctor confessed:/ One hardly misses a backbone -/ There was never much there [...]" Quote taken from A. Paul Weber - Museum: https://www.weber-museum.de/werk/gesellschaftskritik.html. Marginal area somewhat creased, verso with traces of glue.
German lithographer, draftsman and painter, he received the Grand Federal Cross of Merit in 1971. In 1993, the German Federal Post Office issued a 100-penny special stamp with the motif "Audience" in his honor as part of the series "German Painting of the 20th Century".
