Art Nouveau plate from the fish service "Belle Epoque". Nymphenburg.
Stamped coat of arms mark and blue mark with star, around 1900 and red stamp "Legally protected". Design: c. 1899/1900. GRADL, Hermann(1869 Dillingen - 1924)
Polychrome painted, gold decorated. Ø 23.5 cm.
Six-color plate with a purple ornamental plant motif on the rim and the depiction painted in shades of green of a trout jumping out of the water, snapping at a fly. Rim break restored, 1 small scratch in the tail fin of the trout.
The fish service "Belle Epoque" by Hermann Gradl initially included 12 plates, 1 fish platter, 1 potato bowl and 1 sauce boat. In 1900 it was presented at the Paris World's Fair, where it was awarded the "Grand Prix" as one of the most successful examples of floral Art Nouveau.
