Classical vase clock: "À Cercle Tournant".
18th / 19th century.
 
Height: 42 cm.
Mount by Boin Taburet à Paris, bronze, brass, gilt. Porcelain with sepia painting, partially relief, rose and gold painted. Oval reserves on both sides with mythological goddesses of youth and justice, marbled plinth. Horizontal hour dial ring, minute dial ring above, white enamel plaques with black Roman and Arabic numerals. The tongue of the snake acts as a hand. Anchor escapement, lock disc striking movement. Bottom mark. Movement functional in the short-term test. Striking mechanism defective.
Boin Taburet, goldsmiths and silversmiths, jewelers, watch dealers. The traditional firm was founded in 1873 by George Boin and Emile Taburet, it became known for metalwork in the style of Louis XV and Louis XVI. A similar model by French watchmaker Jean André Lepaute (made in 1774) is in the Walters Museum of Art, Baltimore * Partner auction Bergmann.
