Large painted war chest.
Probably 17th / 18th century
Iron, polychrome painted. Approx. 40 x 87 x 47 cm. 43 kg.
Colorfully painted iron chest with riveted bands, front with 2 hasps and a mock keyhole, side bow handles; decorated with stylized eagles and leaf ornaments on remnants of green background. Hinged lid with hidden keyhole; inside decorated lock mechanism with egg gauge (cruciform straightening disc) in the dome chapel, 11 tumblers (9 firing latches), small lockable side compartment with key. Signs of age and use, painting rubbed.
