Baroque tankard with silver lid.
About 1730. Potsdam.
Colorless glass with gold staffage; silver, gilded. H 20 cm.
Roller jug with ribbon handle and gilded silver lid (2 fused 18th century hallmarks/1 indistinct master hallmark/Windhound's head 3 [= 800 silver, Austria, from 1867-1922, probably hallmarked]); dislocated demolition. Between a spherical frieze and a matted pointed leaf wreath on the stand the cut, partly gilt depiction of a ligatured monogram in a crowned escutcheon, framed by cornucopias with fruits and tendrils, on either side respectively a landscape island with tree as well as a cupid boy with fruit basket. Elaborately crafted lid with engraved ribbon work as well as an inserted medal on the coronation of Frederick I (1657-1713) as Prussian king on January 18, 1701. Gold partially somewhat rubbed.
