Richard Mansfeld was self-taught and freelance painter, graphic artist and action artist in Dresden. He received the Philip Morris Kunstförderung scholarship in 1991 and the France scholarship of the state of Saxony in 1993. He worked in the International Art Commune Straumar/Ireland and in Paris. In 1997 he created the mural for the Stadtsparkasse Dresden and in 2000 he erected facade installations at the New Saxon Art Association in Dresden. His works have been shown in exhibitions in Germany, Italy, France, Iceland and Switzerland and are partly owned by the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, the Deutsche Bücherei Leipzig or the Brandenburgische Kunstsammlungen Cottbus.
